The Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) announced that it will maintain its full member status in the Seoul Accord for six years, following the results of the SAMM2024 meeting held in India on June 15, 2024.

The Seoul Accord is a multi-lateral agreement among agencies responsible for accreditation or recognition of tertiary-level computing and IT-related qualifications. This ensures that graduates with a four-year degree in computer and information technology-related fields from any member country are recognized as equivalent and can freely seek employment and engage in activities across the participating nations.

The event was attended by agencies responsible for accreditation or recognition of tertiary-level computing and IT-related qualificationss from 17 countries, including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada, in addition to ABEEK.

With the extension of its full member status in the Seoul Accord, ABEEK stated that it will continue to work towards securing international equivalence and strengthening the mutual recognition system for domestic universities specializing in computer and information technology.
